By: Justin Fine “From the Corner to the Block,” A gumbo of sound, perfectly flavored with explosive New Orleans spices, and plenty of contemporary flavors that hits the sweet spot of your ear drum you'll be "tasting" it for a long time to come. Galactic is a band that has been steamrolling audiences with so much powerful and infectious music since the mid-nineties, it's a shame they do not get as much exposure as they should, they are truly a great representation of contemporary New Orleans musical sensibilities. Currently a quintet including bassist Robert Mercurio, guitarist Jeff Raines, organist Richard Vogel, drummer Stanton Moore and saxophonist/harmonica player/producer Ben Ellman. The group has been performing as an instrumental group after they parted ways with vocalist Theryl DeClouet in 2004.
